As we continue our journey throughout the year, this session we will consider our similarities with the person of St. Peter. [Leader name] will facilitate our meeting. He has sent along the readings and thoughts below in preparation for the meeting.
Theme: Contemplation of Our Personal Similarities with those of St. Peter
Readings
- Matthew 14: 25-31 – Lord, is it really you?
- Matthew 16: 13-19 – You are the Messiah, Son of the living God...
- Matthew 16: 21-27 – God forbid that any such thing ever happen to you!
- Matthew 26: 31-35 – Though all may have their faith shaken, mine will never be…
- John 21: 15-17 – Lord, you know everything. You know well that I love you...
Discussion Questions
- How do Peter’s actions, words, and behaviors resemble those you have previously exhibited in your personal relationships? Have you ever attempted to talk yourself into a greater position or use others to obtain what you want? Do you ever find yourself criticizing others without first attempting to fix the fault that grieves you? How so?
- What benefits do you get from our fellowship meetings? Are you obtaining what you seek and desire? Do you truly bring your fair share of contributions, or do you hold back unnecessarily? What are you willing to do differently, and how do you think others could help or encourage you?
- How do you view yourself in the your relationships with family, friends, neighborhood, and church? If you were to ask, would they agree with your assessment?
We also want to be open to wherever the Holy Spirit leads us. Come, and invite a friend!
See you there.
God bless,
