Brothers-
We hope to see you again for our upcoming session!
Mercy, mercy, mercy…
Last time, we were introduced to Divine Mercy, and we shared how we’re learning to trust in and accept God’s Divine Mercy in times of need. This week, the shoe is on the other foot. We oftentimes find ourselves given the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ by offering Mercy to others who call on us in times of need. One of our brothers will share a few stories about how he has been called on to serve. You are going to be challenged this week!
Scriptures
James 2: 14-17 Faith without works is dead. How have we helped someone if we only wish them well, but do not meetany of their needs?
Luke 10: 25-37 The parable of the Good Samaritan not only teaches us who is our neighbor, but also gives witness to how our Lord would want us to respond with Mercy to a neighbor in need.
Matthew 25: 37-46 The Lord teaches that as you did it not for the least of these, you did it not for Him. The corporal works of Mercy encourage us to be the hands and feet of Christ.
Matthew 5: 1-7 From the beatitudes, our Lord promises Mercy to the merciful.
Below are a few questions to get the conversation started. If we have time, we will break down into small groups.
Discussion Questions
- How you have experienced mercy from others?
- What are your thoughts and reaction to panhandlers? How have you judged them?
- How does God call us to serve? (hint, see The Corporal Works of Mercy, below). So, who does God call us to serve?
- Have you ever served in a soup kitchen, or homeless shelter, or prison? If so, what was it like for you?
- How have you offered mercy to others?
