Dear Brothers,
We recently celebrated Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit, the One who empowers and emboldens us to proclaim the faith. Relatedly, June 24 is the upcoming Feast of John the Baptist, the last prophet and the one who shared what he knew about Jesus’ imminent coming. That makes this session a perfect time to tell our personal stories, witnessing to each other how the Lord has worked in our own lives.
Maybe you’ve shared your story over and over, or maybe this will be the first time. At this meeting, we’d like to allow a few minutes for each man to briefly share how God has worked in his own life, and the impact our Lord has had. Then as time permits, we’ll reflect on other questions about how we can better share our faith stories with others.
Readings
Acts 1:8 – Jesus’ final words to us before ascending to heaven…
Daniel 4:2-3 – King Nebuchadnezzar’s reaction to God’s intervention…
Luke 8:39 – Jesus’ instruction to go home and…
1 Peter 3:15 – We are called to be prepared…are you?
Discussion Questions
Part 1
If someone asked you to summarize in a few minutes, “What has God done for you in your life?”, what would you say? What’s your “story” in a few minutes? Some points to consider:
- Your faith as a child/young person
- Conversion moments
- Growth in faith, and resulting life changes
- What has helped or hindered
- Where God is calling you next
Part 2
- Have you ever witnessed to someone about what God has done in your life? How did you approach it? What was the reaction you got?
- What hurdles do you face as far as sharing God’s impact in your life with others? Do you find it easier, or more difficult, to share this with certain groups of people?
- What can help you to share your story in the future?
We also want to be open to wherever the Holy Spirit leads us. Come, and invite a friend!
