Dear Brothers:
We will gather in the [location] this coming [date], for the next Men’s Fellowship session from [start and end times]. Please invite a friend to join you.
Brothers [leader names] will lead a discussion on the “Thy Will Be Done” petition in the Lord’s Prayer. They will challenge us to consider what we are actually committing to when we pray that phrase in the Lord’s Prayer.
In truth, when we pray that phrase, we are acknowledging our willingness to let our old self die so that new life can spring up!
Scriptures
Mark 14: 32-37 … Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, just prior to his arrest, thereby submitting to the will of His Father.
Matthew 7: 21-2 The true Disciple is one “… who does the will of my Father in heaven”.
Matthew 6: 7-13 The Lord’s Prayer as Jesus taught in His sermon on the mount.
Discussion Questions
- How do you discern the Lord’s will?
- What was your experience when you acted on the Lord’s will in the past?
- How do you make seeking the Lord’s will part of your prayer intentions?
- What do you think of when you recite “thy will be done” in the Lord’s Prayer?
