Living Out The Lord’s Prayer: Hallowed Be Thy Name

Dear Brothers in Christ,

Join us the us coming [day/date] at [start time] in the [location], as we continue our discussion of The Lord’s Prayer.

Brothers [leader names] will lead us in exploring the powerful petition:
“Hallowed be Thy name.”

This opening line reminds us that our primary task in prayer is to glorify God, not simply to ask for things. It also challenges us to grow in reverence in every aspect of our lives.

Readings

In preparation, we invite you to reflect on the following Scripture verses and discussion questions:

Matthew 6:9-13 (The Lord’s Prayer)

  • Exodus 20: 7 – Proper reverence of the Lord’s name…
  • Psalm 111: 9 – Praise of the Lord’s Holy name…
  • Philippians 2: 9-11 – …which is the name above every other name
  • Colossians 3: 17 – “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Discussion Questions

  1. What does it mean to “hallow” God’s name in our daily lives?
  2. How do our actions reflect the holiness of God’s name?
  3. Have you ever had an experience where someone’s reverence (or irreverence) for God’s name made a deep impression on you?
  4. How do you use God’s name in your private and public life?
  5. How is God inviting me to grow in reverence?

We look forward to seeing you there – come and bring a friend!

God bless.
