Living Out The Lord’s Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come

Dear Brothers,

We will gather this coming [date] for our next Men’s Fellowship meeting in the [location] from [start time] to [end time].  Brother [leader name(s) ] will continue our in-depth discussion of The Lord’s Prayer.

St. Thomas Aquinas says The Lord’s Prayer is the most perfect of prayers….  In it we ask, not only for all things we can rightly desire, but also in the sequence that they should be desired.

In the Our Father, the object of the first three petitions is the glory of the Father.  The first is the sanctification of his name, “Hallowed by thy name” and in the second petition, Thy Kingdom Come, the Church looks first to Christ’s return and the final coming of the Reign of God.  It also prays for the growth of the Kingdom of God in the “today” of our own lives.
