Are You Feeding Your Sheep?

Please join us this coming [day/date] We’ll gather again in the [location] from [start time to end time].  Brother [leader name] will lead the topic of ‘Feed my Sheep’.

Scripture

John 21: 15-19Feed my lambs…tend my sheep…feed my sheep…

For Consideration

  • Brothers in Christ, Jesus is not giving Peter some poetic verse or line…he is giving him a mission
  • This moment happens after failure. Peter had denied Christ three times…and now Jesus asks him three times, “Do you love me?”
  • Christ doesn’t ask Peter: Are you strong? Are you perfect? Rather, “Do you love me?” Then, and only then, does Jesus trust him with responsibility!
  • Love comes before leadership. Jesus ties mission to love. Before Peter can shepherd others, he must reaffirm his love for Christ. “Feed” means more than words…Jesus commands, “Feed my sheep” (Not “watch my sheep”, or “control my sheep”).
  • Shepherding requires sacrifice: we must die to comfort, let go of selfishness, choose responsibility over escape.
  • This call is personal: Jesus says, “my sheep”
  • Every man here has sheep!!

Questions

  1. When Jesus asked, “Do you love me?” What is your honest response today?
  2. Who are the sheep God has entrusted to me right now?
  3. What am I currently feeding my family or others – faith, fear, distraction, or Christ?
  4. How consistent is my prayer in sacrament of life?
  5. Where is God asking me to step up as a sheperd, instead of staying silent or passive?
  6. What sacrifice is Jesus asking me to better feed his sheep?
  7. If someone followed my example, would they grow closer to Christ?

See you [day]. and invite a friend!
