Are We Living as Missionaries of Mercy?

In light of the Easter gift of Jesus’ atonement for our sins, and of the upcoming Feast of Divine Mercy this coming Sunday, Jesus’ mercy in our lives is an important and timely topic.  You might also recall that our late Holy Father Pope Francis, just two years into his 12-year pontificate, declared a Year of Mercy beginning in 2015.  Mercy was a topic Pope Francis spoke of frequently as he encouraged us to cherish and value our relationships with everyone.

We’ve covered Mercy before as a group, but this session we’d like to focus on two particular aspects.  First, a look at mercy in today’s world and how we as men live that out.  And second, towards the end we’ll discuss the Feast of Divine Mercy coming up on Sunday.  So join us this coming session for our discussion, Are We Living as Missionaries of Mercy?

Scripture Readings

Psalm 51: 1-4  Led by King David’s example, we seek God’s all-encompassing Mercy for our failures…

Psalm 51: 10-16  Then upon receiving this priceless gift, we’re moved to “teach” and proclaim it to others…

Matthew 18: 23-35  Jesus’ stern warning to those who refuse to forgive…

  3. How might Christ be calling you to grow in mercy this Easter season?  How, where, and with whom specifically can you be more merciful and forgiving?
