Dear Brothers:
We will gather once again this coming [date], in the [location] from [time]. Please “reach out” to another man and invite him to spend this time with us.
We’ll continue our ENCOUNTER discussions as we focus on the Transfiguration and consider how & when we have encountered Christ. The Transfiguration was a supreme encounter for Peter, James & John whom Jesus took with Him up the mountain. There they were joined by Elijah and Moses – two of the greatest Old Testament Prophets. This was quite an experience for these two Apostles, as it revealed Jesus’ true glory in His coming passion & death. As taught by Aquinas, the entire Trinity appeared in the Transfiguration – the voice of the FATHER + the presence of His Son JESUS along with the HOLY SPIRIT in the shining cloud.
Our challenge will be to consider how and when we have encountered Jesus and what we have learned from that experience (s).
Scriptures
Exodus 3: 1-6 … the place where Moses stood was “holy ground”.
2 Peter 1: 16-18… Peter declares “… we have seen His majesty for ourselves”.
Luke 9: 28-36 … “This is my beloved Son, listen to Him”.
