Dear Brothers:
We will be together this coming [day/date] from [start time to end time] at [location]. Be sure and “REACH OUT” to other men and invite them to join us!
As you know, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so we’ll target our discussions on that topic. Brothers [leader names] will help us focus on a vital relationship as we ask that you consider this question: Do you have a goal of growing in spiritual intimacy with your wife, and — if so — how?
We also suggest you take few minutes, before our meeting, to consider the “benefits” of Spiritual Intimacy from a Focus on the Family article set forth below. These will help open minds — and hearts — to our discussions on [day].
Scriptures
The Scripture readings we’d ask to you look over before we meet are:
- 1 John 4: 9-12; 19 … We learn that “we love because He first loved us”.
- Romans 5: 8 … Christ died for us while were “yet Sinners”.
- 1 Corinthians 13: 7 … As we are taught to love our wives as you love God.
- Ephesians 5: 28-32 … Be sure to cherish your wife.
- Catechism #1660 and forward for teachings on the love between man, woman & God.
God bless all … see you there!
From the Focus on the Family article Building Spiritual Intimacy in your Marriage:
Spiritual intimacy occurs when you as husband and wife surrender your lives and relationship to the Lord. You grow together spiritually when you live out your marriage relationship according to God’s ways and aim to please him in all things. You may not realize the power spiritual intimacy can have on your relationship with your spouse. Emotional and physical attraction is what drew you together, but the spiritual connection is what keeps you together.
Just take a look at some of the benefits of spiritual intimacy in a marriage:
- It empowers celebrating love.
- It allows you to connect at the deepest level.
- It links you with God’s purposes and plans for you.
- It allows you to bless each other with God’s love.
- It brings your deepest values and desires into agreement.
- It opens the door to the deepest levels of communication.
- It empowers your marriage to survive.
- It connects you to a supportive body of fellow disciples.
Count your blessings. Set aside time to thank God of everything he has done for you.
