How to Do Evangelization Without Awkwardness

Dear Brothers in Christ,

Join us this coming [day/date] at [start time] in the [location]. Brothers [leader names] will lead us in the topic of Evangelization Without Awkwardness.

Have you ever felt hesitant to share the Gospel with someone? Most of us would likely answer “Yes” to this question. But why are we hesitant to share the greatest news we have ever been given? And what are some practical steps to make our evangelization efforts more comfortable and more successful? In preparation, we invite you to reflect on the following Scripture verses and discussion questions.

Readings

Matthew 28: 19-20 Go therefore and make disciples…

1 Peter 3: 13-16 Always be ready to give an explanation…with gentleness and reverence Tone matters. Confidence + humility beats intensity

John 1: 35-39 What are you looking for? Evangelization is an invitation, not an argument

Discussion

  1. What is the biggest fear or awkward emotion you experience when considering talking about your faith at work or with friends?
  2. Where do you tend to get awkward – family, coworkers, old friends, strangers? Why there?
  3. What’s a moment someone shared faith with you in a way that felt natural and respectful? What made it work?
  4. What is one small, specific invitation you could make this week that fits your life? (Coffee, Mass, Service, Men’s Group, Confession, Adoration)

We also will discuss this one-page helpful summary handout, Evangelization Without Awkwardness. Be sure to bring a copy!

We look forward to seeing you there – come and bring a friend! (This is the theme of the meeting)

God Bless.
