Vulnerability: A Characteristic of a Godly Man

Dear Brothers in Christ,

Join us this coming [day/date] in the [location]. Brothers [leaders’ names] will lead us on the topic of Vulnerability, A Characteristic of A Godly Man.

Vulnerability is often misunderstood as weakness, but in the Christian life it is a pathway to real strength and freedom. During this meeting, we’ll look at how biblical vulnerability begins with honest self-awareness, deepens as we bring our needs to God, and becomes sustaining and life-giving when we walk with trusted brothers instead of carrying everything alone.

In preparation, we invite you to reflect on the following Scripture verses and discussion questions:

Scriptures

Luke 18: 10-14 – Prayers of the Pharisee and the tax collector…

2 Corinthians 12: 9–10 – God’s power is made perfect in weakness…

James 5: 16 – What Christians do for each other…

Galatians 6: 2 – The importance of sharing burdens…

Discussion Questions

  1. Is vulnerability a trait that I have previously associated with being a Catholic man?
  2. Where in my life am I most tempted to avoid the truth about myself right now?
  3. What are a few signs that I’m not fully facing something (stress, irritability, distraction, withdrawal, overwork, numbness)?
  4. Where am I relying mostly on my own strength instead of bringing my need to God?
  5. What tends to keep me from being fully open with God (shame, pride, fear, discouragement, feeling unworthy)?
  6. Where would I benefit most from not carrying things alone (without sharing details)—spiritual life, stress, marriage/family pressures, work burdens, loneliness?
  7. What kind of support would help me most right now: encouragement, prayer, a check-in, perspective, or simply being known?

We look forward to seeing you there – come and bring a friend!

God bless.
