Your Favorite Apostle

Dear Brothers,

When Jesus chose His apostles, He didn’t select twelve men with the same personality. He chose leaders, thinkers, servants, organizers, questioners, connectors, and zealots. Have you ever considered if you have a favorite apostle, or one(s) you can relate to or identify with in a particular way?

Please join us for our next session,  Your Favorite Apostle, this coming [date] at [time] in the [location].  Brothers [leaders’ names] will recap each apostle as described in Scripture and lead our reflection on these founding members of our church.

Scripture:

Luke 6: 12-16 – In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles; Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

A downloadable handout, referenced with scriptures and describing each of the apostles, can be found here.

Suggestion: If your parish is blessed to have relics of any of the apostles, consider asking if someone could bring them to your fellowship meeting. That was done during this meeting and added an extra spiritual connection that was very impactful for the attendees.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Do you have a favorite apostle? Who is it, and why?
  2. Which apostle’s personality sounds most like you?
  3. What strengths do you naturally bring to a team?
  4. Do any of the apostles share an area of struggle with you?
  5. Which apostle’s growth journey gives you hope?
  6. How might God use your unique personality for His kingdom?

We look forward to seeing you Saturday…come, and bring a friend!

God bless,

Fellowship Lead Team
